Church of St.Sava is the largest Orthodox church in Serbia, and it ranks among the largest churches in the world.  Its dominating dome had been modeled after that of the Hagia Sophia.  Construction of the church began in 1935.  The church's foundation had been completed, and the walls erected to the height of 7 and 11 meters.  After the 1941 bombing of Belgrade, work ceased altogether.  After the end of World War II, the building site was closed due to the new political situation.

I grew up not far from the abandoned construction site and many times climbed the unfinished walls and played on granite slabs intended for the construction of the church.

Construction of the building began again in 1985.

The painting comes in a limited series of only 50 prints.  Each print is hand-signed numbered and it includes a certificate of authenticity.

The artwork is using a 1.5" deep gallery wrap and it is not framed.
