Dobrota is a pretty village in the Bay of Kotor in southwestern Montenegro. The village is de facto part of Kotor. Dobrota means goodness.
According to the legend, two passengers who traveled the world found themselves in the Bay of Kotor. They were tired from the road and sat on a rock to rest. There they saw the inscription "Measure ten lengths, dig and stop". They took a plate, measured ten lengths and dug a hole in which they found a small chest. The coffin opened and it said "this is everyone's kindness" at the bottom. That message sounded like a vow to them, so they built a hut in that place. During the night, they were awakened by the glow of the coffin in which they found a new message - "wish whatever you want before going to sleep". Travelers wanted stone houses and beautiful women. In the morning, they found two houses in that place and beautiful women in them. Since then, every night before going to bed, they wished for another beautiful house that would appear in the morning. Legend has it that this is how Dobrota came into being.
